Food Unfair
« on: February 16, 2010, 12:01:48 PM »
This is gross: why is the food is nearly, no, usually expired and twice the price? I recently bought some hot chocolate, some soup, coffee creamer, and some syrup. Long story short, check your expiration date! The items I bought last week had expired in March 2007! The coffee creamer had expired in August 2005!!!

Recently while in there I checked dates here and there, some were close to expiring and some had a ways to go. I'm hoping it's getting better.

I used to try to shop local.  Now I worry about too many things like this happening.  That and you have to worry about getting pulled over by a Junior G-Man and putting up with some stupidity.  That one cop must get his clothes from the boys section.  Is there a height requirement?

I'm thinking of something Gunny would say on Full Metal Jacket.

At least the deli is good.  Now I wonder about how fresh it is.

I've gotten sick a few times from the deli. Chicken strips and taters with gravy is good, but a few times it wasn't.

I'll do my food shopping elsewhere.  Cheaper and no worries someplace else.

If you complain to the owner, he will tell you "If you don't like it, go somewhere else and shop!". he doesn't give a crap.

Which owner are you talking about? I know that Wayne is the older one, (the dad), and he is extremely polite and has been nothing but professional with Becky and I. Bruce is the son, and he definitely doesn't have the same positive attitude that his Dad has. I just don't think he has the passion for owning that store, that his Dad does. <shrug>

I honestly don't remember who told me that. He was probably late 30's early 40's. I've heard about him saying it to other people as well.

Yep, that would be Bruce. Someone was raising a concern to us one afternoon, that when Wayne decides to retire, they don't know what will happen to the store. It's sad really. That place has great potential, if it were managed by someone with a strong desire to make it the best it can be. I guess this could be said for any business. It is what you make it.

With proper management I would be glad to return to using Food Unfair and may even stop calling it that! I really don't mind paying a little more for the convenience, but some things are priced way too high and some things are priced highly while expired. Maybe Bruce will sell it to someone who cares when Wayne retires?
